Maureen Sheehan

Viola

Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, violist Maureen Sheehan has developed a musical home in the Boston area as a collaborator and performer of chamber music old and new.

A recent Master’s graduate of the New England Conservatory, Maureen has performed with Palaver Strings, A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, Vista Philharmonic, and Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, among others. She is the violist of the Calandra Quartet, which earned distinction as an NEC Honors Ensemble and gave their debut performance in Jordan Hall in April 2024 with works by Lau, Schubert, and Haydn. Also an Irish fiddler, Maureen has studied with Liz Knowles-O’Hare and spent a semester abroad at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland during her Bachelor’s studies. There she was awarded the David Love scholarship for her analysis of cultural activism to preserve the Cobblestone Pub, a beloved home for traditional Irish music and culture.
