Ariel Chapman, viola
Ariel Chapman is a Boston-based musician, where she completed a Bachelor’s in Music at the New England Conservatory under Martha Katz and is completing her Graduate Diploma under Dimitri Murrath. Ariel has been invited to study in many summer music festivals, including the Heifetz International Music Institute, Zodiac Music Academy & Festival in France, and the Colorado College Summer Music Festival. Before studying at NEC, Ariel studied with Lewis Rosove and Sally Chisolm.
Ariel is passionate about eclectic genres of music as well as several non-musical interests. She has used NEC’s diverse offerings to study music outside of that she performs, from Jazz to Afghan music to American folk music. Additionally, history, geography (especially in the form of travel), and vegan activism are powerful non-musical interests that have helped to shape her mind and mature her musical interpretations. Ariel performs on an instrument commissioned from the French luthier Frank Ravatin.
